In-person conference or retreat?

This may be a little high-maintenance, but it could be great to actually get together and do a blitz or a retreat. Bring together some museum people, some tech people, and really talk about where we're going. Then again, maybe people are on conference overload.

I love that idea. Last spring while I was getting pieces for the Power of the Prototype exhibit, I met with a number of exhibit developer folks in various venues. We talked about this very idea, and there definitely was consensus there for this sort of thing.

The thing that would make it work well is how closely you could match conference to attendees. The big conferences can be a bit much, smaller group events are golden.

Is anyone else interested in this approach?
Conference overload is definitely an issue but if a small group day could be tacked on just before or after a big conference, it would be a start. Maybe best to ease into it rather than try to program a full-mini-conference the first time out.
