Have a real project

I think all these strategies are much more better when there is something actually to do. What should we do? Anyone need the wisdom of this crowd for a project? If it is a compelling project, then we can find the right media/setting/environment to do it.

I have an idea for a useful question for which I could use input from this group related to a project proposal that I am working on...actually two projects...one is called Human + about human enhancement technology/engineering, and the other is "art and science of the guitar" project that I am trying to get started.

Would you like to brainstorm on these? How would you do it?

I really like the idea of a real project. I'd need a little more info to comfortably sign on to either one of those topics as off the bat they don't resonate with me. That said, I just got off the phone with a very talented exhibit builder/developer from the who also has an amazing background in guitar building, oddly enough. Contact me off line if you'd like more info on him.
I agree. I love this idea. This could be a really great way to galvanize and/or create the online museum community. It would provide some direction and a goal, and it could be a really visible way to draw more attention and get more people involved. Great idea!

I'm very interested in connecting real world museum/science center environments to online environments. I don't have a preference for content, but I think doing something that had a virtual and an IRL (in real life) component would be really interesting. (Especially if the IRL component was easily accessible and cheap, and the virtual component could be accessible to anyone who wanted to join up).

I'll think about this some more and post some more specific ideas soon. I like the idea of a music project...
I think this is a terrific idea. Working on a project together is a great way to build community as well as making something useful and cool. It would also be nice to have more things to bring back to my institution and point to as great examples of 2.0 ideas.
This holds great potential. Would there be value in working with some group in a pro-bono capacity? Find a real need with an organization that may not even fit into a traditional museum mold.... Would keep it from becoming an academic exercise.
